Michael Opitz For Congress

Michael Opitz is running for Congress in Georgia's 11th District against William Llop and incumbent Phil Gingrey. He calls himself the Constitutional Conservative.
Opitz is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and he served as a Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigations (OSI). He is retired from AT&T/Lucent Technologies. He is a member of the American Legion, President of the Madison Forum and currently he chairs the IT Strategic Planning Committee for the Georgia Department of Agriculture and is a registered Georgia Mediator/Arbitrator and partner in Turning Points Mediation, LLC.
One of the biggest parts of Opitz's platform is creating domestic manufacturing jobs. He pledges to restore a robust economy to the 11th district by fighting hard to reduce burdensome regulations imposed on small business, reduce taxes and cut government spending.
He favors the Keystone pipeline, saying that it would have provided at least 20 thousand good paying jobs. He also says that he wants to drill domestically, in the name of energy independence.
As seems to be the party lines now a-days, he mentions that he would fight to repeal Obamacare. He also says he supports the Ryan Budget plan, the Fair Tax, and a balanced budget followed by a balanced budget amendment.
He says that the U.S. could shrink its debt by looking at and closing down some of the over 700 aging military bases we have worldwide. He also supports a return to the Gold Standard.
