My Letter to Congressman Phil Gingrey, MD. Concerning ENDA
Representative Phil Gingrey, MD,
I am writing to you today concerning House Resolution number1397. The bill designed to prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity and called The Employment Non-Discrimination Act. This bill is currently in several committees, including a committee that you sit on, The Committee on House Administration. I am writing to you today in hopes that you will encourage your esteemed colleagues to pass this bill onto the House floor.
I also write in hopes that you will encourage your esteemed colleague, Senator Isakson, to encourage the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pension, which is currently holding the Senate form of the bill ( S.811 of the same name and purpose) to pass it onto the Senate floor.
The bill was introduced into the House by Barney Frank and has 163 co-sponsors, respectively, the Senate version was introduced into the Senate by Senator Jeff Merkley and has 41 co-sponsors.
I hope that you will take action on this bill and work toward ending discrimination in the work place.
Regards,
