Paula Bradshaw, a member of the Green Party, was cleared to appear on the 12th District ballot last week after a challenge to her candidacy was withdrawn. Officials with the Illinois State Board of Elections said the ballot would be certified Aug. 24 with all three candidates in the race.
Bradshaw joins Democrat William Enyart and Republican Jason Plummer in the 12th District contest. She also will participate in the three debates scheduled before the Nov. 6 election.
Bradshaw, 59, is an emergency room nurse and political activist from Carbondale. Her campaign chairman, Rich Whitney, said the challenge to her candidacy focused on the legitimacy of signatures gathered for her nominating petitions.
