Want to put a piranha in the political fish tank? Allow Gary Johnson in the Presidential Debates
July 23, 2012
The Washington Times
The most savvy thing that America’s TV networks could possibly do this year is to promote Gary Johnson with the intent of placing him in at least one, if not all of the Fall presidential debates. Such a move would almost certainly drive viewership and interest in the debates to stratospheric levels, and Johnson’s penchant for snappy redirects and crowd-winning zingers would be the kind of fan service that scratches the itch for spontaneous, unscripted reality TV.

There is no shortage of love lost between CNN and the libertarian presidential candidate, former two term New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, nor is it a secret. The cable news network continues to remain a thorn in his side (for about a year now), carefully and quietly excluding Johnson from its polling.
One small ray of hope emerged on August 29, 2011 when CNN finally included him in their bi-weekly national poll. Apparently Gov. Johnson polled a bit too high at 2%, and his name was never to be seen on all subsequent polls during his remaining tenure in the Republican primary.

Johnson, the former Republican governor of New Mexico running for president on the Libertarian ticket, has begun holding press conferences from medical marijuana dispensaries and assailing Obama for waging the war on drugs.
